UTOPIA WAS NEVER JUST A NAME.
A utopia begins with imagining an alternative to what already exists.
That idea sits at the centre of the 1963 Utopia.
Mechanical watchmaking comes with familiar expectations: what should face outward, what should remain hidden, and how a watch should be experienced on the wrist.
Utopia asks whether those expectations have to stay that way.
Something new is coming from that question.
It was never meant to be the only one.

THE FIRST UTOPIA TURNED THE WATCH INSIDE OUT.
Most mechanical watches present the dial to the world and keep their movement hidden behind it.
The 1963 Utopia reversed that relationship.
Its Seagull ST1901 mechanical chronograph movement became the outward-facing centre of the watch.
The dial moved to the other side, closer to the person wearing it.
The movement faces the world.
The dial faces the wearer.
Everyone else sees the mechanics.
The wearer keeps something for themselves.
It changed more than the architecture of the watch.
It changed the relationship between the watch and its owner.
Because time is only yours.
That phrase is already fundamental to Utopia: the dial-facing side carries the Utopia inscription and individual watch number, reinforcing the private relationship between watch and wearer.

THE QUESTION DIDN'T END THERE.
The first Utopia proved that something familiar could be experienced differently.
So, for the next one, we did not ask how to repeat it.
We returned to the question that started everything.
What else could Utopia become?
The unconventional architecture remains.
The philosophy remains.
But this is not the 1963 Utopia returning.
It is another expression of the idea.
And for now, that is where we leave it.
